El Sazón de la Abuelita is the work of a family bringing Central American and Mexican cuisine to Phillipsburg. Eight years later, we still cook every plate from the recipes our abuela taught us, with care and tradition.

El Sazón de la Abuelita opened its doors in Phillipsburg in 2018. The idea was simple: bring authentic Central American and Mexican home cooking to families in New Jersey. Recipes from our abuela's kitchen, prepared the way she taught us, served with care every day.
Over eight years, our menu has grown into a real fusion. We serve Mexican classics like tacos and carne asada alongside Central American favorites such as pupusas, baleadas, and desayuno chapín. Daily soups, family combos, and catering for parties round out the offering.
Today we still cook every plate the way we did on day one. We make our own queso fresco, prepare tamales by hand, and grill our meats over open flame. Phillipsburg is our home, and every guest who walks in is treated like family.
